LARK BOOKS – Asheville, NC

Built in 1912 in the historic district of downtown Asheville, The Enterprise Machine Company building originally housed a garage and motor sales company. Never much more than a shell, renovations to the 24,000-square foot facility for Lark Books (now owned by Barnes & Noble) converted the structure into the art, design, writing, editing, photography and production departments for the 60-person publishing company. The project received a Griffin Award for Excellence in Preservation.
