Isis Restaurant & Music Hall

The Isis Theater opened December 27, 1937. According to the Asheville Times, it cost $50,000 to build and had all the luxuries of the day: air conditioning, “Microphonic” sound and a carpeted auditorium “attractively decorated and appointed.” Competition from television after World War II caused the theater to close in 1957. After major renovations, the Isis reopened as a music hall and restaurant. The restaurant and bar seat 70 people. The music hall can accommodate 500 people, has excellent acoustics and features both regional and national performers. The balcony provides additional seating and great views of the stage. The upstairs lounge features an additional bar as well as a more intimate performance space. The Isis can be leased for all types of events from company meetings, social gatherings, weddings, shows and dance parties. The site was developed to include outdoor seating, a green space and parking. The front façade got a major make-over; the vertical neon Isis signage and a replica of the original marquee were fabricated and installed.
