MARKET STREET AT STRAUS PARK - Brevard, NC

Market Street, a new seven-acre environmentally-friendly shopping village in Brevard, NC, is evolving into a charming mix of mountain architecture, framed by the natural beauty of the local landscape. The adjacent 15-acre meadow will remain intact. Unlike the sea of asphalt of a typical strip center or shopping mall, Market Street offers a convenient and pleasant alternative. With a greater emphasis on landscape and pedestrian space, visitors will be able to meander down the promenade, eat at the outdoor dining spots or patronize the eclectic mix of businesses selected as part of an inviting outdoor lifestyle.

Glazer Architecture is the project architect for all 6 buildings comprising the Market Street development. A full-service branch bank for Asheville Savings Bank was recently completed. Poppies Market, a 14,000 square foot gourmet farmers' market, was recently completed. An outdoor garden center, prepared foods and fresh products not previously available in the area are featured. The energy-efficient building features SIPS (structural insulated panels) and heat recovery systems.

Other businesses, such as a fitness center and retailers that promote the area's outdoor activities, will occupy the remaining 70,000 square feet of commercial space. Market Street will not only be a unique place to shop, but will promote the area and be an ambassador for the local economy.
