MOUNTAIN MAGNOLIA INN BED & BREAKFAST – Hot Springs, NC

Mountain Magnolia Inn, located at the junction of the French Broad River and the Appalachian Trail, was originally built in 1868 for the Rumbough family. Although the upper floors were removed in the 1950's the remaining floor retained much of its ornate detailing: plaster ceiling medallions, walnut paneled doors, and decorative moldings. Although not an exact replica, upper floors were added and the spirit of the original structure was recreated. During construction, an inflatable bubble protected the finishes and allowed work to continue year 'round.
