CONDO – Asheville,
NC
Built in 1885, the building is part of a contiguous
row of two, three and four-story commercial buildings in the historic
downtown district. We salvaged what we could, windows were reworked,
structure was repaired. Eco-friendly icynene insulation was used
and a sprinkler system was added. The owners wanted a minimalist,
contemporary design. The old wood ceiling against the contemporary
light fixtures and appliances, red fabric mechanical duct and fine
cabinetry creates a dramatic juxtaposition. This project received
a Griffin Award for Excellence in Preservation.
