Black Mountain College Museum & Arts Center
The mission of the Black Mountain College Museum & Arts Center is to
preserve and continue the legacy of educational and artistic innovation of the
Black Mountain College (1933-1957) for public study and enjoyment. Our
renovations to this 1914 structure adjacent to City Hall and Asheville’s main
public park provide facilities for collection, conservation and educational
activities including exhibitions, publications and public programs. Historic
features of the building were preserved and restored per the National Park
Service’s Secretary of Interiors standards, while providing code compliance as
well as meeting the temperature and humidity control requirements of a museum.
We also developed designs for 3 Residential apartments on the Upper Levels of
the building.
