MARSHALL HIGH STUDIOS - Marshall, NC
Marshall High Studios is an adaptive reuse of the 1925 Marshall High School which had been slated for demolition. The two-story, 28,000 square foot building had been abandoned, resulting in defunct building systems, water damage from French Broad River as well as a leaky roof. With the installation of a sprinkler system, new mechanical, plumbing and electrical, our project resulted in 24 art studios featuring original maple floors, vintage blackboards, rebuilt windows, sinks with solar hot water, individually-controlled heating, Cat5 wiring for wireless Internet. A loading dock, handicap lift, large communal deck and garden were also provided, thus continuing the school's prominence in the community.
